The Downtown Delray Beach Plan
In March of 2002, residents adopted the “Downtown Delray Beach Master Plan.” The plan represents the citizen’s strategies for the unification and future growth of the city’s downtown area. The plan includes a blueprint for the development of the City’s oldest business districts and surrounding neighborhoods, which include Delray Beach homes and Delray Beach condos. The plan is highly regarded by all as it combines solid planning principles and architectural design with the dreams and aspirations of a growth-focused community.
The planning process spanned an eighteen-month period and involved hundreds of residents, businesses, youth, members of the development community, religious institutions, service providers, and government. On a daily basis, community members work with city staff to carry the plan forward, from vision to reality.
As the downtown area of Delray Beach is revitalized, it is important to note the big role that history plays in the city’s identity and future direction. The city has designated several neighborhoods as historic districts. Residents are encouraged to preserve old Delray Beach waterfront homes as a living link to Delray Beach’s memorable past.
